The US Supreme Court on Friday decided to hear Tennessee’s challenge to a state law prohibiting minors from receiving gender-affirming medical treatment. “We’re going to take a look at it,” Chief Justice John Roberts said. “I think we’re going to have to wait for a little bit of evidence,” Roberts added. Over twenty states and the District of Columbia have banned treatment for minors.

US Presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday said that he supports states’ rights to decide their own abortion policies. “Florida and Arizona are probably going to change, Arizona’s going to definitely change, everybody wants that to happen,” he said. Notably, the US Supreme Court had left abortion rights up to the states since 2008.

At the US Supreme Court, Justice Neil Gorsuch questioned the idea that the ATF could just change their interpretation of the machine gun law in order to ban bump stocks. In 2018, the federal government banned bump stocks for that reason, but gun enthusiasts have challenged the regulation in court, contending that only Congress has the power to enact such a ban.

Texas Supreme Court has allowed the state’s abortion laws to go back into effect after a district judge’s ruling that the laws were unconstitutional. The judge had ordered the state to stop enforcement of the laws when doctors treat patients with serious pregnancies-ending problems. The state had appealed the judge’s ruling, which was upheld by the US Supreme Court.
