Columbia says it will throw students out of a building
A professor at Columbia University in the US has been arrested for supporting pro-Palestinian protesters at the campus in New York, according to reports. The professor was among 19 people arrested by police on Monday during the protest. According to reports, a total of 25 people were arrested in connection with the protest, including five professors and 18 students.

Planned Parenthood of Southwest Florida and Central Florida said it is supporting abortion care providers during the November voting season with a proposed amendment in Florida that seeks to enshrine abortion rights into the state constitution. The amendment will appear on the November 8 election ballot. Planned Parenthood is doing ultrasounds earlier and has extended its hours to accommodate as many patients as they can.

The US has said that it opposes the military offensive in Gaza and has urged Israel to exercise restraint.

The WHO on Sunday said that the US and Japan have pledged to provide a vaccine for 50,000 people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) who will be immunised against clade I mpox. This comes after several cases were reported in South Kivu province, which is a conflict-torn part of the DRC. So far, the virus has killed more than 650 people.

Researchers have created brain organoids from human stem cells cultured for 250 days, containing all types of brain cells found in the cerebral cortex. The organoids were injected into mice and revealed tumours similar to human colorectal cancer when the cancerous cells were injected into them. Researchers said that they plan to use the technology developed for these studies to make chimaeras.

As many as 18 people have been killed in Oman after heavy monsoon rains and thunderstorms hit the sultanate. The floods have disrupted air traffic across the region, with hundreds of flights being cancelled at Dubai’s international Airport. A study of a human case in Chile’s Chile has found that the coronavirus had spread through the air between ferrets in different cages. However, scientists said it was possible that there wasn’t enough virus being transmitted to “overcome the immune barriers that would prevent infection”. The virus had mutated in a gene called PB2 that gets affected when it infects mammals.

A total of 1.5 lakh CD5+ cells were slow-frozen in BamBanker medium. Ten thousand CAR T cells were washed in ice-cold PBS and then subjected to nuclei isolation with the following lysis buffer.
