The law was passed to protect the public from malpractice under which anyone can be sued for helping someone get an abortion. The Texas state attorney general’s office has proposed indicting Kate Cox, who was told by her doctor that she should not carry the baby to term, since it could jeopardize her future fertility. Cox’s petition to the court “fails to identify what ‘life-threatening’ medical condition that Ms Cox purportedly has that is aggravated by, caused by, or arising from a pregnancy”, the office said.

Stanford University researchers have found that implanting deep brain stimulation can improve the functioning of a brain structure known as thalamus. “For some participants…improvements have been transformative, even many years after the injury,” said Jaimie Henderson, a neurosurgeon at Stanford University in California. There has been a surge in pneumonia in China
A study by a University College London’s Computational biologist, Francois Balloux, has found that infections with Mycobacterium pneumoniae, a bacterium that causes pneumonia, are increasing in China. “Since China experienced a far longer and harsher lockdown than essentially any other country on Earth…it was anticipated that those ‘lockdown exit’ waves could be substantial in China,” Balloux said.
