Why do we need beautiful children? – Donald Trump’s response to NBC News’ comments on reproductive rights in the era of voter backlash
Trump told NBC he’d support public funding for in vitro fertilization, or a mandate requiring insurance companies to cover it. The procedure to treat infertility can cost a lot of money.
We are doing this because we believe it to be great. Trump stated in an interview that we need beautiful children in our country.
Many high-profile Republicans weighed in on the issue after the Supreme Court of Alabama made a temporary cut off of access to IVF earlier this year.
Trump’s comments come as he appears to be trying to soften his image on reproductive rights ahead of the November election over concerns about voter backlash. He bragged on the campaign trail that he had appointed three conservative Supreme Court justices to overturn the abortion law.
In the same NBC News interview, Trump indicated he would vote in favor of abortion rights in his home state of Florida, where it is on the ballot. He thinks the six week ban is too short, and he favors more time.
Abortion is a key issue in this election, with Democrats warning voters that Republicans would further restrict access to reproductive healthcare if former Trump is elected.

She was accused of flip-flops for her positions on issues such as enforcement at the southern border. She has been accused of avoiding interviews. How did Harris do? Here are six takeaways.
Trump countered the interview with a town hall in a state that is crucial to the election. In addition to his normal talking points on immigration and inflation, Trump started the town hall with a question about IVF, a surprise political issue in the post-Roe reproductive rights landscape.
