The conditions at Al-Shifa Hospital and other medical facilities in Gaza are worsening to new unimaginable levels, health officials and humanitarian groups on the ground said.

A mid-stage trial of base editing drug VERVE-101 was reported at a meeting of the American Heart Association. Results showed that after 28 days, participants who received a high or low dose of VERVE-101 had their PCSK9 levels reduced by up to 84%. They also saw their cholesterol levels drop by over 50%. The trial will continue next year.

A Gaza City hospital is “out of service” and no longer operational because of “the depletion of available fuel and power outage”, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said. It added that over 14,000 people were sheltering there. The WHO has documented five attacks on five Gaza hospitals in a single day last week, its Director-General said.

Human Rights Watch is investigating the Israeli airstrikes on a hospital in Gaza strip that have killed at least seven people, including three children. The hospital has been identified as Al Shifa Hospital by Hamas and the Israeli military. Doctors at the hospital said the airstrikes were indiscriminate and that several patients were injured in the strikes.
